    Vehicle Model History

The Jensen SP’s performance specifications were nothing short of remarkable for the time. The vehicle’s 440ci (7212cc) Chrysler engine, with its high compression ratio of 10.3:1, required the use of five star fuel to develop the impressive 385 bhp. This was a significant increase from the 330 bhp of the 383ci engine used in previous models.

The vehicle also featured new 6.5J x 15” 5 spoke alloy wheels manufactured by GKN, allowing for the fitment of wider tyres and larger 10.75” ventilated discs with a dual circuit system. To distinguish the SP from other models, a contrasting vinyl roof and two sets of louvres were added to each side of the bonnet. The front bumper was redesigned, and the rear featured a single rear number plate lamp and cast aluminium surrounds for the dual headlamps.

The interior of the Jensen SP was also upgraded, with new seats and door panels, a restyled centre console, and the addition of two extra eyeball vents on the dashboard. The vehicle came standard with every optional extra, including a Lear-Jet Stereo 8 track tape player-radio and electric aerial.

As for its performance, the SP could go from 0-60mph in just 6.9 seconds, 0-100mph in 16.8 seconds, and had a top speed of 145mph. These figures made the Jensen SP one of the fastest and most powerful vehicles of its time.
